A brief glance to Bangkok Design Week 2026

During the Bangkok Design week 2026, Anne Loes Nillesen had the honor to speak at the ‘Environmental Resilience for a Better City Forum’, organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangkok.

The event started with the opening of the Urban Forest pavilion by Shma Company Limited at the city hall squire, that well demonstrates the quality that green and cool spaces can add to a city. Subsequently several OTHER Dutch experts (Mariette Graafland, Harrie Laboyrie and Stephanie Janssen) shared their vision on achieving environmental resilience in cities, followed by a debate led by Yossapon Boonsom (Shma) and with reflections of the Deputy Governor Sanon Wangsrangboon. My presentation focussed on the potential of Nature-based Solutions (at different scale levels) in creating sustainable green-blue cities.

The wonderful setting of this forum at the City hall and with Wat Suthat Thepwararam Ratchaworamahawihan in the background, emphasised the importance for Bangkok of connecting future strategies for the city to its inhabitants and rich history.
